About

Hi, I’m Chris Waterfield. I’m a UK based filmmaker. I specialise in music videos, promotional films, and event films, but can adapt to suit a wide range of projects.

Having achieved a First Class Honours Degree in Film Production Technology, my area of speciality is camera technology. I have learnt that camera choice is an important part of the filmmaking process, but there are hundreds of other equally important choices made along the journey which combine to create the final product.

My dissertation was a research investigation in to digital cinema cameras. The project included primary research from film industry experts including Shane Hurlbut ASC, David Mullen ASC and Gary Shaw. There was also extensive testing of a wide range of digital cinema cameras to compare the strengths and weaknesses of each camera to see how they would perform in the field.

Whilst at university, I have directed a number of successful music videos, short films and promotional films. These include music videos for artists including White Moth Black Butterfly and Above the Underground. I have also made short films including a promotional video for Staffordshire Fire Service, named House Fire.

This has given me hands on experience with some of the world’s best cinema cameras, including the Sony F55, Canon C300, and Sony FS700. I also have an extensive knowledge of DSLR cameras, so I’ll be able to apply my skill set to meet a wide range of client requirements, whatever the budget for your project.

I’m always looking to get involved in new projects, so if you think you might be interested in working together, please email info@chriswaterfield.com
